Slate Roof Replacement for Stable Block at Oxburgh Hall

RG Leverett were contracted by Draper and Nichols to conduct a refurbishment of the slate roof of the east range stable block at Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk.
As a Grade II listed building, no alterations could be made to the fabric of the building without consent and as bats had been identified on the site, all work was conducted under the close supervision of the Ecological Services Bat Officer and the Bat Mitigation Licence.
Having removed the existing slates, we installed a new bat friendly membrane. Featuring a rough surface, it allows the bats to grip onto it and maintains a safe environment for them within the roof structure.
The old slates were then refitted, with damaged and broken slates replaced with reclaimed natural Welsh slates where necessary. The roof was finished with a lead ridge and hip detail.
